About Melissa

Director and Creative Guide

Melissa Wolfarth, (E-RYT 500), founder of Soul Renaissance, LLC was originally drawn to yoga and meditation by experiencing an openness of heart and awareness. Since 2003, Melissa has practiced and studied with various master teachers and led classes in Hatha, Anusara, Kundalini yoga, Yoga Nidra and various forms of expressive arts. These practices of awareness have enabled her and her students to explore relaxation, self-compassion, and personal empowerment. Melissa’s classes honor each individual’s unique strengths and challenges and offer guided experiences to inspire an authentic creative soul journey both on and off the mat. She challenges students to use a combination of ancient and trusted breathing exercises, meditation, and creative artistic practices to walk through their own fears, release their worries and stress, and come to a place of inner strength, joy, and bliss. 

After teaching regular weekly classes and themed workshops in Yoga and Meditation practices for over 16 years, Melissa took a pause from teaching others to delve further into her own personal experience of spiritual and wisdom traditions. Allowing curiosity to be her guide in exploring diverse ancient technologies and current day tested therapeutic systems for inner healing and growth, Melissa has come full circle reconnecting with her original passions for Western European Renaissance art and history blended with eastern spirituality and yogic sciences. Melissa and her husband are now living in both Washington, DC, and Barcelona, a Mecca of Art Nouveau and Modernism. Inspired by the bountiful artistic offerings of her new home environments, Melissa is experiencing a new chapter of self-discovery and curiosity with art as a vehicle of meditation and soul expression. Like meditation, art can help one tap into a deeper and quieter part of themselves to enter a state of flowing, present-moment awareness. Artists create from a place of neutral mind and inner stillness.
